We provide reliable research-based information and expert services, efficient solutions and tools for the sustainable exploitation of forests. We provide independent forest and nature related information and policy options, including: climate and biodiversity considerations alongside economic values. We are the driving force behind the development of forest management recommendations, bringing together representatives of forest owners, the forest industry and nature organizations for joint reflection and development. As a knowledge producer and developer of forest bioeconomy, the impact of our work on society and the environment extends to Finnish forests through the activities of forest owners, corporate customers and other stakeholders.

The Tapio Group includes the parent company Tapio Oy and its subsidiary Tapio Palvelut Oy . Tapio Oy provides forest and nature expert services to the state and also acts as the parent company of the Group. The Office of the Government is responsible for the ownership management. The CEO of the company is Anne Ilola . Tapio Palvelut Oy provides various forestry solutions for forest owners, municipalities and educational institutions, publishes Metsälehti , and provides geographic information and materials in digital and printed form.
